Kaori Fukuyama was born and raised in Kumamoto, Japan, where she first realized the power of color and light in the fields, forests, and hills surrounding her home. She left Japan in 1999 to attend college in the U.S., and in 2003, after receiving a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Oregon, she moved to San Diego, California to pursue a career as a landscape designer. Kaori began to explore other creative avenues, which led to her discovering a passion for visual art. She lives and works in San Diego, while maintaining studio practice in Barrio Arts District. Kaori’s minimal abstract paintings have been exhibited at multiple galleries and juried exhibitions across California, and have become a part of private collections in America and overseas.
