Save the date! KMFA artist Geoff Mitchell will be teaching a workshop at San Luis Obispo Musuem of Art September 15th – September 17th, 2017.
Overview from San Luis Obispo Museum of Art are as follows:
“Discover exciting new ways to add texture and mystery to painterly compositions with a variety of image transfer techniques. Drawing on varied sources such as personal snapshots, found images, or old family photographs, students will learn how to skillfully blend these images into a painterly surface, creating expressive and evocative compositions. Emphasis will be placed on class demonstrations combined with individualized instruction as students become proficient with each technique.
About the Instructor:
Multidisciplinary artist Geoff Mitchell creates imagery with a gesture towards dream like sequences that seduce the viewer and invite reflection towards the past while imagining the future.
Geoff earned his MFA in Visual Art from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. His most notable recent solo exhibitions include Chaos at the Confessional at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, Biloxi (2012), Sunspotsat Sakuragi Fine Arts in Tokyo, Japan (2014), Water Appears and Disappears at Florida Mining Gallery, Jacksonville (2014) and Magic Lanterns at Pryor Fine Art, Atlanta (2015).
